Preparation
Ingredients for fresh bread dumplings (for approx. 4 portions)
- 200 g dumpling bread (or 4 stale bread rolls)
- 1 small onion
- 50 g butter
- 90 ml hot milk
- 2 eggs
- Salt, nutmeg, optional parsley
- 1 tbsp flour for the binding
Preparation
- Fry the onions in butter until translucent
- Pour in milk & season generously
- Pour over the dumpling bread & leave to stand
- Carefully fold in the eggs & flour
- Form dumplings - loosely, do not press
- Either leave to steep in water or better: steam cook
- Enjoy - with gravy, mushrooms or on its own with butter
